The families of those who died at the sawmill, those brave survivors of the fires are haunted by the explosion each and everyday. Loved ones mourn the loss of those killed. Survivors suffer emotional and physical scars from their burns. How can workers have confidence it won’t happen again?
Healing can't happen while questions persist: Why did it happen? Why did people ignore their warnings? What policies failed them? And who can be held accountable?
WorkSafeBC, the employers and everyone involved needs to come clean with what they knew and the deadly decisions that they made. A public inquiry is the only way for closure to happen.
The B.C. government hasn't called for a Public Inquiry because there isn't enough public pressure. Let's show them that it isn't just the families who care about getting answers. Our entire province stands behind them. We all want answers. We all want justice served.
